Rio with Children - AquaRio

Fun for the whole family

We were invited to take a closer look at Rio's newest attraction, AquaRio, and it's sure to be a hit! And it's not just the little ones, but also the adults, especially those who love adrenaline and surfing - you'll understand soon enough.
Rio de Janeiro, which is already known for its famous beaches, will also be recognized for the fish that inhabit them, because the largest aquarium in South America is coming.
The project was conceived by biologist Marcelo Szpilman, with whom we had the honor of talking and seeing his passion for the project. He told us that AquaRio's inspiration goes far beyond the usual family outing, the idea is for it to be educational, showing children the importance of preserving our seas. A partnership with the Department of Marine Biology at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro will promote various research projects in the field of marine biology, always providing improvements for our little fish and big fish.

With this in mind, a Biodiversity Conservation Center will also be set up with the very important task of preserving animals that are at risk of extinction, reproducing them in captivity and later reintroducing them to the sea.

O AquaRio has 26,000 m² spread over 5 floors, with a total of 28 tanks that will house around 3,000 animals of 300 species ranging from sharks, rays, minnows, minnows, jellyfish, crustaceans and even a virtual fish will be there to accompany you.

I thought the idea was super cool: as soon as you enter, you can assemble a virtual fish just the way you want it. This fish will be engraved on a card and will accompany you all the way, and you can receive a welcome from it if you return to AquaRio with your card, among other technologies. I also really liked the virtual turtle that will welcome us and talk about AquaRio, I really like it when there is interaction with the visitor.
On this visit AquaRio wasn't working yet 100%, but I'm already counting the days until it opens and I can see everything up close.

Other cool attractions at AquaRio include diving in their largest tank, with 4.5 million liters of water and a depth of 7 m, with sharks, rays and various fish. As for the little ones, the night will be incredible, it will be possible to spend a whole night and sleep with the fish, what a dream, can you imagine?! I want it! #bbpelomundo, mom will take you lol, these two activities will be separate.

If you're wondering who in their right mind would dive into a tank full of sharks and rays, I say, ME, ME, ME! It must be really incredible.
For those who want to feel the texture of the fish, but aren't brave enough to dive in, don't be discouraged: AquaRio will also have touch tanks, which are included in the ticket, a great opportunity to interact with these incredible animals.

Oops, but it didn't stop there! During the tour we had the opportunity to talk to Rico de Souza, who told us a little about the Surf Museum, with an exhibition of boards and pieces from his personal collection, which will now be shared, sharing a little of the history of this sport, which is becoming increasingly strong in Brazil. It's a great way to encourage responsible sport while raising awareness and respect for the oceans, as well as serving as inspiration for our future Olympic champions - after all, surfing will be an Olympic sport in Tokyo in 2020!

Didn't I mention that there are attractions for all ages and tastes?
Ahh, for parents' peace of mind, there will be an area with activities for the little ones, with monitors who will entertain them while the adults enjoy the visit, a very good idea!
Our visit was very nice, #bbpelomundo didn't want to leave the aquariums for anything, he was enchanted by every little fish, every shape, every color and every species, it was great to be able to walk around as a family and witness the creation of this wonderful new attraction that Rio de Janeiro is getting.

AquaRio is scheduled to open on November 9, 2016, with opening hours every day from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., a huge food court and all the mobility the public needs. We went by trolley and at no time did we have any difficulty getting around AquaRio, which is full of elevators and ramps.
Yeah, but where is it?
AquaRio is right at the end of the Orla Prefeito Luiz Paulo Conde, which has been transformed into the Olympic Boulevard, in front of Warehouses 7 and 8, next to Muhammad Ali Square.
Another way to get around, and easier for those coming by car, is the Via Binário, just after the Rio450 Tunnel exit, but the tip is to take the VLT, which is comfortable and quiet, with no traffic or hassle to find a parking space.

Then hurry, there are promotional passports on the website until October 31st, which will give you some perks, such as unlimited access for a year, as well as exclusive access and visitation half an hour before the opening to the public, much better for getting around and taking photos, it will also give you priority in booking extra activities and 10% discount on drinks, food, stores and parking.

They will be divided into two categories:

• Individual will be sold at R$ 180. It gives access to one adult and the possibility of including three underage dependents, at an additional cost of R$ 60 each.
• Family, which costs R$ 360 and is valid for up to seven people (two adults and two children) plus three additional underage dependents (R$ 60 each). Payment can be made in up to 6 interest-free installments by credit card, with a minimum installment of R$ 60.
