CAMBLY - I'm finally going to learn English

The flexibility I needed

We're always looking to improve, aren't we? But some dreams and projects get stuck in the drawer and need a push lol. That's when Cambly came along.

Secret, my English is so-so...shiiiiii!

I don't even need to list the reasons for speaking English, everyone knows how important the extra language is nowadays.

I CAN'T SPEAK ENGLISH! What?

That's right, I don't speak the language at all and I miss it terribly, whether at work, when I'm traveling or even when I'm chatting with friends.

Seriously, I understand, I correct Igor every now and then with some information we've received, but to speak... It seems like there's a barrier in my head and when I think about it and I'm about to speak, er... ahm... mmm... and the scowl appears with a huge question mark.

Goal!

I decided that 2018 would be different, the changes already came at the beginning of the year when I moved from Brazil to Europe and now that the adaptation period has passed, it's high time for another decisive change:

Enough shame and let's learn English!

That's my goal, by the end of the year I want to lose my shyness and finally learn to speak English, and that's why I chose Cambly.

Globalization

The enormous need I've felt, not only because of my travels or the fact that I live in Europe and English is a universal language for any country, but also for professional growth and even to talk to friends. Although in Portugal the official language is Portuguese, here everyone speaks English, and it's mandatory for any job vacancy.

Nowadays, the world is so globalized that even when we lived in Brazil, there was always someone from another country around, and you can no longer just laugh or nod your head lol. \

The world opens up completely when you speak English. How many opportunities I've missed out on because I don't speak English, that's so bad. And I'm not just talking about professional opportunities, I'm also talking about the opportunities to express myself that I missed out on because I didn't speak the language.

When we travel, I love talking to locals and discovering the unique places and secrets we can visit, but when the trip is international, it's Igor who makes this conversation possible and I really miss these conversations on trips outside the Portuguese/Spanish language.
So it's time to shake off the dust and activate Cambly!

Cambly

Okay, but my life is super busy! Work, husband, son. How do I find the time? That's when I came across the Cambly app.

My problems are over! And a light bulb appeared plim!

Cambly has an "On Demand" concept with teachers online 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
So there's a little time left, man! Turn on the app! The little one's asleep, man! Turn on the app! The cell phone battery's dead, man! Turn on the PC! It's lunchtime, man! Turn on the app!

Now even moms don't have excuses for lack of time, and this fit me like a glove.

Your way

In Cambly you can choose several objectives, as well as your level and how the corrections will take place. This is great because it does everything exactly the way you want it to.

I chose to be corrected with every mistake.

Another cool thing is that there are options for topics that you identify with, such as: sports, technology, business and so on.

What's more, as there are native-speaking teachers from all over the world, you can even choose your accent, which is great!

Do you want to study for something more serious like IELTS or TOELF? No problem, there is also an option that prepares you for these exams.

Native teachers

But how does it actually work? Very simply, Cambly has put together a team of native English teachers who are online. The good thing is that there are several teachers and there are always MANY online, especially as they come from countries all over the world.

Plans

There are various types of plans, with classes 2x 3x 5x or 7x a week! You can also choose the duration, which can be 15 min, 30 min, 60 min or 120 min per day.

The payment method also varies: monthly, quarterly or annually.

The Cambly app works on Android, iOS and computers, so you can study anywhere in the world. Everything is designed for you and the greatest possible flexibility for users.

Beginner

Don't be afraid and go for it.
The teachers are native speakers and speak English most of the time.
Yes, but I don't speak English! I don't either, and as I've already said, I'm a zero English speaker, right? But in the classes I've managed fine, they've been super patient and calm with my broken English.

Another thing that makes us feel more secure is that some of the teachers also speak Portuguese! This is a real help at the beginning of classes.

Ahhh, that helps a lot too! When I don't understand something the teacher is saying, he writes it down in Portuguese, so I don't have any doubts and I'm encouraged to practise the language I'm so embarrassed about.

And the great thing is that the lessons are recorded, so I can review my mistakes and practise on my own.

Travel

Well, of course I'm all about travel and I've noticed another benefit of Cambly: as well as learning English and starting to get to grips with the language, I can talk to English-speaking locals from all over the world!

As the teachers are native English speakers, I can use the theme of travel and cool places in their cities as a theme. Traveling before I even set off for the destination and already picking up the best tips for getting to know each place in the USA, England or Canada. Just like I like to do when I travel, and I'm loving it.

What I thought of Cambly

I love it! I think it's great that it's a completely flexible app that's perfect to use anywhere.

As we travel a lot, the fact that it's online is essential. That way, even if I'm in Portugal, Spain or anywhere else, I don't miss the classes.

All I need is 15 or 30 minutes to myself and that's it, lesson attended! Just this week we went to Madrid and all I needed was my headset, microphone and cell phone with internet access.

What's more, I met some really nice people. I talked to a very funny and friendly American woman who put me at ease.

I also met an Englishman who was as patient as possible. It was my first lesson and I was VERY nervous, lol.

Igor saw me using the app and got excited too! As we live in Portugal, speaking English isn't necessary, everyone understands us and so he's getting rusty, so he's already going to use the app to improve his language skills.

That way, both he and I will be sharp enough to travel all over Europe and speak the world's wildcard language, wow!
