Gastronomy - The Fifties

An invitation to the sin of gluttony, but what a delight!!!!

I was invited to try the menu at The Fifties and I loved it! I already knew the restaurant and whenever possible it was the right place for a snack after an afternoon of shopping or leisure at the mall, so I just combined the useful with the pleasant, and the experience? Ahhh, that was even better.
There were me, Igor (camera and video editor) and three other bloggers, two travel bloggers and one food blogger. Really? Travel bloggers? Of course! Every new experience and every place visited has its culture reflected in the food, right? So nothing could be more appropriate than to offer these invaluable tips for those who are looking for a good place to relax, eat and get to know a little more about the local culture. I particularly get lost in the midst of so many options and getting straight to the point would be a godsend!

Well, you're probably wondering why I'm talking about gastronomic culture when the subject in question is a Brazilian restaurant that cultivates the good American way of life! Simple, despite the visual appeal, which takes you back to the 1950s, in a setting worthy of American classics, The Fifties has its own particularity and a very Paulistano touch hidden in its dishes, the Miami Dog is an example of this, a beautiful Brazilian-style hot dog that even has mashed potatoes!

On my visits to The Fifites I always stayed at the traditional PicBurger, which is very good by the way, but this time what a surprise!

We started with the Chili Fries, a delicious mix of fries and chili sauce, just the right amount of spice even for those who don't like it. I don't like chili myself and I thought it was wonderful for that very reason, as it appeals to both Greeks and Trojans, but for those who haven't quite accepted the idea yet, you can opt for the traditional Fifties Fries and you won't go wrong. Next I tried another starter, the Onion Tower, I'm passionate about onions, so can you imagine a tower full of crunchy onions? Yes, I told you how delicious this place was.
Then we moved on to the sandwiches, a wide choice for all tastes! It's almost impossible to mention them all here, so I'll just mention the three I liked best.

The Pic Americano is the house's most traditional burger, with an unbeatable flavor, a picanha burger with special sauce, onion rings and pickle slices, topped with cheddar cheese, crispy bacon and julienne lettuce.
The London Burger for cheddar lovers like me, with caramelized onions that make an almost unfair combination with other sandwiches! And to top it all off, there's the Baby Back Burger, which NOOOOSSSAAA, they've managed to put that rib-eye we know so well, with barbecue sauce inside a single sandwich! When they told me how it was made, I was already salivating, but when I ate it, it was seriously good.
But it didn't stop there! The Fifties isn't just about hamburgers, I tried a very tasty Hot Dog, with mashed potatoes and everything you could ask for, the Miami Dog is complete and delicious, with its potato chips and sauce that go together divinely, even though I ate a lot of sandwiches I devoured them in no time!

You must be wondering how I ate so much, right? Well, three things helped me, one was that everything was very tasty and well made, another was that I didn't exactly eat all the sandwiches whole, I took generous pieces, one or the other I ate completely and lastly, I'm pregnant, so I think the baby helped a lot with the eating! lol
Now to the desserts and milk shakes?

Yes, there is still room for delicacies, and the first to be tasted was the Fifties Milk Shake, the most beautiful in the house, with whipped cream and chocolate, very good, but I confess that I preferred the Hazelnut Cream Milk Shake, if I could I would have a stock of this daily at home, it was like a delicacy of the gods, you know Nutella? Yeah, now think you're drinking Nutella, it's the flavor of the Milk Shake, the tastiest thing in the whole wide world! A must for every time I go back to The Fifties, pity I only found out about it now.

I still need space for desserts, so what now? I tried a little of each, first Red Velvet, a delicious chocolate cake, pink, huh? that's right! One of the house's mainstays and I could see why, so I moved on to the Cheesecake, with a yogurt ice cream I've never tasted anywhere else, with a sour taste I've never seen before! But my eye was really on the Brownie, my favorite dessert ever! It came served in a beautiful bowl, and I looked at it shyly and immediately scolded myself, I couldn't stick to just one piece, I devoured it almost in a second with a taste of wanting more!

Oops, but there was one more dessert, the Petit Gateu, which was another paradise with its melted chocolate on the inside and fluffy outside, I salivate just remembering it!
It's bad to talk about so many good things, isn't it? I want to go back soon and miss these wonders!
Nhhhaammm, too good? What do you think was the best thing there? Let's watch the video and remember?
