A different way of getting to know the city.
I always like to get to know the places I travel to in a different way and that's why a friend from São Paulo suggested this night walk. Do you know those riches that only the locals know about? And that's where I like it even more. What a nice program to do at night!
It takes place every Thursday at 8pm and the meeting point is in front of the Municipal Theater of São Paulo, it's free and there's no need to sign up!
Just show up and be happy. The great thing is that each Thursday has a different theme, so you can go to several without repeating the itinerary and get to know a bit more about the city, which is amazing! Want to know next Thursday's theme? Click here.
And because you're in a group, you can enjoy the sights more calmly, observe the center of São Paulo and take pictures safely. The city is magical at night, with all its lights, sky and decorations, turning a simple photo into a beautiful picture.
I don't even need to tell the photographers on duty that this is a great tip for their Thursday evenings, right? It will make your shots much safer and with an extra touch of culture.
I've heard several stories about buildings from the 1950s that are true works of art. On the day I visited, the theme was João Artacho Jurado and his "forbidden architecture", I saw buildings with finishes that were thought out down to the smallest detail and even the staircase of the town hall got in on the act.
It is made of snails from bottom to top, making the building a real sculpture in the middle of the city.
This walk allowed me to see details that would have been overlooked if they hadn't been so well talked about, explained and observed. I loved the tip and on my next visit I'm sure I'll do it again, looking forward to seeing the other themes.
And you know what? This walk has been going on since 2005! The initial idea was for it to take place during the day, but luckily for us it ended up taking place at night. I have to confess that it made all the difference and I enjoyed walking the streets much more this way. I was amazed at how something so cool can be so little known! Had you heard of it?
I liked it a lot, approved it too much and ran here to tell you about it. So, shall we go? Which theme will you like best?
