House of Fire Bistro
Everyone knows I'm a big foodie and there's nothing better than combining travel with good food. In Paraty, I found a restaurant that goes far beyond good taste, combining a charming atmosphere that is very well decorated, with beautiful paintings and walls that look more like a great work of art, and good music that makes for a perfect harmony!
The restaurant is located on Rua Comendador José Luiz, right in the historic center of Paraty, in one of the many colonial-style houses. It also has MPB, bossa nova, samba, forró, chorinho and jazz nights, the sound of which I had the pleasure of enjoying very much that evening.
Its dishes are all flavored with Brazilian spices and flambéed with artisanal cachaças produced in local mills, preserving the caiçara culture, always with fresh fish and fruits that come together to transform your palate into a waltz.
First I ordered a pineapple juice with mint and then came the choice of the night, the Paella Brasil, a delicious seafood rice, flambéed with colorful peppers, carambolas and bananas! I never thought I'd like the mixture of fruit in savory food so much, I confess I'm not a big fan of it, but I also have to say that it was divine, it looked as if it had been made for the dish, which has an incredible lightness, to lick your lips even if you're not very hungry, which was my case, I'd spent the whole day barbecuing and the next thing I knew it was time to have dinner, enjoy the evening and delight those who understand the art of cooking. Eating and scratching is all about getting started!
And you think that's it? Of course not, there was still dessert and our choice was the Banana Caiçara, flambéed with caramel, coconut sauce and cinnamon ice cream! Wow, very good! I loved the cinnamon ice cream, something I'd never seen before, it won me over straight away! The mixture with the banana flambé with caramel and coconut left me wanting more!!!
The evening couldn't have been more pleasant and full of tasty surprises. When I was about to leave, Leila, the owner of the Bistrô, sat down with us and introduced us to a project that will be taking place in Paraty in which Casa do Fogo Bistrô will be taking part, the Folia Gastronômica, which will take place from November 1st to 16th.
It's a completely revolutionary festival with ideas that don't just affect gastronomy, but the whole city as well, from the schoolchildren who are learning and making things to exhibit at the festival, to the mix of renowned chefs from all over Brazil who will be giving mini courses during this period!
There will be around 30 restaurants and cafés taking part, with dishes inspired by the chosen ingredient of the year, Cassava! Customers who try one of the dishes will also take home a plate from the Association of Restaurants of Good Remembrance.
I can't wait to go back and try all the wonderful things there! What about you? Are you going to miss it?
