We're back on the big screen with our third season of Cris pelo Mundo Discovering Portugal, this time we've taken advantage of the country we've chosen to live in and we've visited every little corner to show you! Portugal is incredible and each city completely changes the landscape, gastronomy and even culture! The South is different from the North, which is different from the Center and each village has its own particularities, but they have one thing in common: it's simply WONDERFUL and every discovery is delicious! The country may be tiny compared to Brazil, but it's huge in its diversity. We'll show you everything from the beach to the snow and you can join us on this incredible adventure.

General Synopsis of the third season of Cris Pelo Mundo

Portugal and Brazil have an interesting historical relationship and many already know this, but how about a slightly more fun, family look at the beginning of it all? Brazil wants to discover Portugal! The eyes of the whole world are now on Portugal, especially the Brazilian eyes, which now seem to have discovered something more than the famous recipes with cod, wine, Lisbon and Porto. During the third season of Cris Pelo Mundo, we will present the culture and history of Portugal, the best that Portugal has to offer visitors with a playful and entertaining approach for the whole family

Episode 01

In the third season of Cris Pelo Mundo, you will discover Portugal and we invite you to be surprised by the country that has influenced so much of our culture, language and traditions. Together they will present what Portugal has to offer in terms of activities that appeal to the whole family, while paying special attention to the distinctive culture of each region, always in a light and entertaining way. All this history begins in Guimarães, the former Condado Portucalense, and also goes through Braga, from the time when the Romans were present on the Iberian Peninsula.

Episode 02:

Porto is Portugal's second largest city and a great starting point for many who want to get to know the country. The city also has a strong connection with the creation of Portugal and offers a variety of sightseeing options that will make you feel what Portuguese culture is all about. Porto is the undefeated city, as its inhabitants know it, always loyal and convinced of its liberal ideals. Be amazed by the ancient history of this symbol of Portugal.

Episode 03:

Episode 03: After discovering the most traditional things to do in Porto, it's time to explore the unthinkable. Let's follow the tips from Your Tours Portugal to get to know the city of Porto in an alternative and interactive way. In this itinerary, everything has been designed to capture the attention of the little ones. Emmanuel had fun while everyone learned through play and enjoyed the gastronomic wonders that Porto has to offer.

Episode 04:

Speaking of Portugal and the city of Porto, it's impossible not to relate the whole experience to the famous Port Wine. What many people don't know is that Port is not from Porto, but from the Douro Valley. This is a beautiful region in Portugal with the perfect climate and conditions for producing Port and Douro wine. The drink has made a name for itself internationally and, as a result, countless wine tourism hotels have sprung up, some of which deserve to be highlighted for their originality and the range of activities they offer. We've selected two of them to show you the best things to do with your family.

Episode 05:

There are hidden treasures all over the country, but one in particular has won our family's hearts and become one of our favorite places in Portugal. In the third installment of Cris Pelo Mundo, you'll get to know the Peneda Gerês National Park, the only national park in the country that preserves tradition and nature in a protected environment, where you can feel the essence of the culture of northern Portugal. Dive into crystal-clear lakes, bathe in beautiful waterfalls, go on adventures and experience cozy corners amidst the bucolic atmosphere of one of Portugal's most beautiful regions.

Episode 06:

The north of Portugal holds many wonders of Portuguese heritage in little-known places. Following the tips from Your Tours Portugal, they were able to visit a 19th century palace and be impressed by Valença do Minho, a fortified city. Finally, they discovered whether or not Pero Vaz de Caminha was from Caminha. And, of course, they enjoyed the Portuguese cuisine of the north once again, with lots of family fun.

Episode 07:

Still in the north of Portugal, it was time to visit one of the most beautiful and charming cities on the entire northern coast of Portugal, Viana do Castelo. At the top of the city, the Sanctuary of the Sacred Heart of Jesus stands out on the hill of Santa Luzia, from where you can see the Lima River meet the Atlantic Ocean. Viana is also well known for its sweets, its pilgrimages and its typical costumes that represent Portuguese dress throughout the world. Moving on, it was time to visit a Portuguese ship from the Age of Discovery. That's right, a ship from the 1500s! You can visit, get to know and be enchanted by this journey back in time.

Episode 08:

Another symbol of Portugal is the Barcelos Rooster. But do you know why? There is a legend linked to great faith and the pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela that explains this amusing story. They then set off to Ponte de Lima, Portugal's first town. There are controversies, but it is said that it was the mother of Portugal's first king who announced its foundation in 1125. Ponte de Lima is beautiful, home to the Portuguese Toy Museum and also a very controversial and fun restaurant. They also discovered Arcos de Valdevez and Amarante, where they found the Monastery of Travanca, a primitive church on the Romanesque Route. Get ready to have a good laugh and see what the relaxed spirit of the people of northern Portugal is really like!

Episode 09:

One of the popular delicacies of the northern region of Portugal is pão com chouriço, our bread with sausage. Emmanuel learned how to prepare this delicacy on one of Portugal's most famous farms. You've certainly heard of the famous wine they produce there, one of the most consumed in Brazil. The English garden deserves a mention and enchants everyone who visits it. Heading back to the coast and down to the city of Aveiro, it was time for the Portuguese Venice. It is known for its numerous canals, through which the colorful moliceiros boats sail, famous for the production of sea salt and also for its sweets made with eggs. To round things off, do you know why cod is so traditional in Portugal? Watch and enjoy this relaxed approach to Portugal.

Episode 10:

Now that they're in central Portugal, they meet Viseu. The city is marked by the statue of Viriato, a symbol of the strength of the Lusitanian people who faced Rome's expansion into Hispania in the middle of the 2nd century B.C. It also has beautiful churches that preserve some of Portugal's treasures. On their way, they passed the highest mountain range in mainland Portugal, Serra da Estrela. Did you know that it also snows in Portugal? But apart from winter, you can visit this wonder of Portugal in all seasons and the Cris Pelo Mundo family had the opportunity to present one of them. 

Episode 11:

Still in the Beira Alta region, they headed for Trancoso, where a priest lived who had so many children that he was even forgiven by the church for having populated the entire town. Afterwards, the Cris Pelo Mundo family took a guided tour of the city of Guarda, the highest in Portugal, where it is believed to have the purest air in the country. Traveling further and further south, it was time to visit another fortified city, Almeida, which has Arab origins and has been the scene of several disputes. Until they reached the birthplace of Pedro Álvares Cabral, the discoverer of Brazil. The city is proud of its achievement and boasts a museum with a rich exhibition on the formation of culture in Brazil. The Museum of the Discoveries presents the Portuguese version of this story in a fun and interactive way. 

Episode 12:

After touring the northern region of Portugal, it was time to discover central Portugal, more precisely the Beira Baixa region. Very close to Spain, in the interior of Portugal, we passed through enchanting villages with unique characteristics. They are hidden treasures that the Portuguese make a point of keeping to themselves. Discover Monsanto, voted the most Portuguese village in Portugal. It's known as the village that has houses with only one roof tile, as many are made of stone. Emmanuel went on to see more castles, passing through Penha Garcia, a town that has a legend of ghosts amidst scenery that makes you forget any negative tales. Finally, they arrived in the center of the region, in the city of Castelo Branco, where they visited the beautiful Episcopal Garden and got to know a little more about Castelo Branco's unique embroidery tradition.

Episode 13:

The Cris Pelo Mundo family continues its journey in search of the little-known interior of Portugal, but first a short stop for Emmanuel to have fun and learn while playing at the Living Science Forest Center in Proença-a-Nova. Emmanuel was able to learn a little more about forest conservation and how wood is selected for construction, as well as many other discoveries. The family then continued their journey until they were surprised by the Schist Village of Figueira, deserted, abandoned and very beautiful, an open-air museum. 

Episode 14:

Exploring the treasures of inland Portugal, the Cris Pelo Mundo family arrives in Vila Velha de Ródão, where rock art has been found on the banks of the River Tagus. After a short boat trip through the region marked by the Portas de Ródão Natural Monument, it's time to get to know and understand a little more about the treasure present in that region, at the Tagus Valley Rock Art Interpretation Center. Get to know a delicacy unique to Oleiros, the Cabrito Estonado. You'll have to taste it to know! Following the Appalachian trail, you can get to know the nature of the Fraga da Água d'Alta waterfalls on the way to Foz de Égua, a beautiful village overshadowed by the fame of the nativity scene village, Piódão. There are so many discoveries that it's hard to list them all here, but we can tell you that you've never seen a festival like the one held in Penamacor.

Episode 15:

You've certainly heard of the Knights Templar, but what do you know about the Knights of Christ? The journey of discovery passed through monasteries and convents that have the history of Portugal recorded on their walls. They show different periods, but with a strong link to the Portuguese discoveries. Then it was time for the Convent of Christ in Tomar, where they visited two hotels that are unique in Europe. Have you ever thought about staying in a real suite? It's possible at the Bussaco Palace.

Episode 16:

Now "Inês is dead", this expression is often used in Portugal to express what has no return. That's because it marked the country's history in one of the most beautiful and romantic legends of all time. The Cris Pelo Mundo family had the opportunity to stay at Quinta das Lágrimas, the former estate of the royal family, the scene of this tragic story. Afterwards, the family was able to see the end of it all at the Monastery of Alcobaça. It is the first fully Gothic building to be erected on Portuguese soil. It was begun in 1178 by the monks of the Cistercian Order. In the sequence of iconic monasteries, the Batalha Monastery does not go unnoticed, the Temple of the Portuguese Homeland that preserves kings and queens.

Episode 17:

Still connected to the controversial decisions of the Portuguese court at the time of Pedro and Inês, the Cris Pelo Mundo family visited the castle of Montemor-o-Velho, which looks like a medieval movie set. It's very close to Coimbra and it was there that the decision to murder Inês de Castro was made. The Bairrada region is famous for its roast suckling pig accompanied by sparkling Bairrada wines, and is home to a private exhibition comparable to many museums in the world. Take the opportunity to learn about all the stages involved in making champagne.

Episode 18:

Have you ever heard of the Nazaré canyon? It is largely responsible for the formation of the gigantic waves that hit the Portuguese coastline during the winter in Portugal. But Nazaré is also a captivating Portuguese fishing village that can be visited all year round. Nearby are the Mira de Aire Caves, formed by the action of water on the limestone soil. After their discovery, interventions were made and today it is possible for tourists to visit and be enchanted by the magnificent tunnels opened up by the water. When traveling as a family, the little ones have to have a turn and there's nothing better than learning a bit more about dinosaurs, is there? At Dino Parque, Emmanuel had a lesson with a paleontologist and did just like in the movies, only this time he really learned what dinosaurs were like. Now that's science!

Episode 19:

Traveling all over Portugal from north to south, in the third season of Cris Pelo Mundo you will arrive in Lisbon. After so much learning, you'll have a refreshing rest in one of the best hotels in the Portuguese capital. The next day, you'll head to Belém, home to the Belém Tower and many other monuments directly linked to the time of the Portuguese discoveries. From Belém, they head to Praça do Comércio, which was marked by the fateful Lisbon earthquake, and on to the captivating Alfama district.

Episode 20:

After getting to know Lisbon's traditional points of interest, the Cris Pelo Mundo family went on a Tuk-tuk tour of Alfama and were enchanted by the neighborhood that still maintains its traditions and streets in the same way as in the past. Following the contrasts, after getting to know one of Lisbon's oldest neighborhoods, it's time to introduce the newest part of the city. Parque das Nações was built for the 1998 Lisbon International Exhibition, whose theme was "The Oceans". That's why it's home to the Lisbon Oceanarium. A must-see for family travelers to Lisbon. So get out your notebook and write down the tips the family has given us in the third season of Cris Pelo Mundo.

Episode 21:

Close to Lisbon is the Serra de Sintra, known for its colorful Pena Castle. But what many people don't know is that Sintra is the scene of many legends and mysticism. Quinta da Regaleira is also worth highlighting on your itinerary and you'll be enchanted by its gardens that awaken the imagination and enchantment through a magical setting. In addition to all its cultural heritage, the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park boasts unparalleled nature and some of the most beautiful beaches in Portugal.

After an itinerary full of charms, a brief tour of Cascais to find out why it's the favorite place for locals in Portugal, with lunch by the beach in Sintra and lots of good times with the family. Afterwards, they set off for Setúbal, passing Cape Espichel, Sesimbra Castle, Bacalhôa Palace and another wine producing estate that is very famous in Brazil.

Episode 22:

Moving further and further south in Portugal, the Cris Pelo Mundo family landed in the Alentejo, in Évora. The starting point is an oasis in the middle of an olive grove, a charming hotel and a refuge further away from the city. The first stop in the Alentejo is the hilltop town of Marvão. The medieval setting once again inspires and activates the imagination. Next, the Cris Pelo Mundo family will taste a completely organic olive oil from the gods. Cris Stilben is surprised by a lunch with recipes designed to be enjoyed in such a way that olive oil is the main protagonist. There's even olive oil ice cream, believe me!

Episode 23:

After visiting the town of Marvão, on the border with Spain, it was time to visit Elvas. It was the most important stronghold on the Portuguese border, the most fortified city in Europe, and was therefore called the "Queen of the Border". After Elvas, it's finally time to discover Évora. The starting point is the Church of São Francisco, which also houses the Chapel of Bones. Évora boasts the largest cathedral in the country, but in addition to its churches, the Temple of Diana from the 1st century BC stands out. Along the beautiful roads of the Alentejo, new charms are discovered, passing through Monsaraz, where the family had an unusual experience. They slept on a houseboat in the middle of a dam and you'll be able to go on an adventure with this family in the third season of Cris Pelo Mundo.

Episode 24:

After a fantastic sunrise on the dam, cut off from the world and alone in a houseboat, the first challenge came: mooring the boat again, without any help. Challenge overcome, it's time to set off across the Alentejo towards the Algarve. But before that, how about getting to know Mértola? Mértola is a village with a strong Arab influence. After a fun stay on the boat, it was time to enjoy all the comforts that a traditional hotel can provide. Our stop was Vila Nova de Milfontes, on the Alentejo coast. We then headed for the Algarve, passing along the Costa Vicentina and arriving in Lagos, resident of the famous Ponta da Piedade.

Episode 25:

Also in the Algarve, apart from Ponta da Piedade, there is a very famous spot that piqued the interest of the Cris Pelo Mundo family: the Benagil Cave! It's one of the most fantastic places in the Algarve. But before that, there's Silves, the orange capital of the Algarve. Silves and the Algarve, in general, were also greatly influenced by the Moors and you'll be able to follow this story in the third season of Cris Pelo Mundo.

Episode 26:

Another unmissable destination in Portugal, we close the third season of Cris Pelo Mundo with Madeira Island! Today an autonomous region of Portugal, but of course we couldn't talk about Portugal without visiting the pearl of the Atlantic.
