Another amusement park for the account
The enchanted world of amusement parks is completely magical and if it's possible I still want to visit every park in the WORLD! So I didn't think twice when I heard about Parque Warner Madrid, we got ready and hit the road.
Parque Warner Madrid
Opened in April 2002, the park is located 23 km from Madrid in the municipality of San Martín de La Vega.
The park is like a giant studio! There are several worlds that intertwine, the magic and the characters of the seventh art are present in everything, even in the details. You'll easily bump into the idol of your childhood as you walk through the decorated streets of each area of the park.
The park is divided into 5 worlds and you can move between the universes of famous cartoon characters that made our childhood happy!
There are actually two parks:
Warner Beach Park
This is Warner's water park in Madrid, but as you might expect, it's only open during the summer season and we missed it by a long shot. It has several areas for all ages and, of course, is full of characters from Looney Tunes, The Flintstones and Scooby Doo!
You can visit each park independently of the other.
Parque Warner Madrid
This is the main park and encompasses different worlds:
Movie World Studios
Light, camera and action!
It's an area where you can feel like you're on a movie set. You'll certainly have the chance to experience gunfire, the sound of clappers and the famous COOORRTTA! Don't miss the Cine Tour.
But if you really want to get your adrenaline pumping and go to the next level, head for the Stunt Fall.
Restaurants: Studio Café, Buffet Casa del Sol, DockSide Drinks, Jack Fish Market.
Hollywood Boulevard
It's the entrance area to Parque Warner Madrid, with lots of stores and restaurants. It's impossible to pass by and not remember important names in the movie industry. There's a Walk of Fame with big names that remind us of films that have been part of different phases of our lives, such as: Julia Roberts, Harrison Ford, Morgan Freeman and many others.
It's also where there are fewer attractions, but one of the most useful areas for dads who haven't brought strollers... lol
Hollywood B. is exactly where you can rent strollers or even wheelchairs. There is also a locker.
Of course, a park dedicated to movies wouldn't be without a movie theater! It's an exact replica of the Californian Grauman's Chinese Theater, where the Chinese Theater attraction is located. It has a red hall, huge corridors and a room where Coyote comes to life in a 3D adventure.
Restaurants : Bervely Hills Bakey, Starbuck`s, Valentino`s, Foster`s Hollywood
Super Heros World
What child hasn't dreamt of seeing their real superhero? Everyone, at some point in their childhood, goes through the imaginary world of villains and heroes, and even we adults enjoy this magical world.
It's in this area that you quickly run between Metropolis and Gotham City, two cities that most children know very well, don't they? By the way, it's the area that Emmanuel hasn't stopped talking about since he found out about Parque Warner Madrid. He made me take both his Superman and Batman shirts and until he saw them up close he wouldn't sit still.
Luckily, finding the heroes isn't a difficult task at Parque Warner Madrid, you just have to keep an eye on the times they appear and exactly where they are on the map. His dream of talking to Superman and the other heroes will come true and we were very happy to give our little hero this experience. He was so excited that his eyes teared up. video and prove it.
It was in this area that Igor was able to fly on one of the park's highlight rollercoasters, it's pure excitement! Don't miss out on the adrenaline rushes reserved for adults, the park has really thought of all ages, mixing attractions for everyone very well.
Ahhhh, don't forget to check the showtimes. We saw a great fight between Batman and the Joker. Book in advance and position yourself in the best spot so you don't miss any of the show. It was very crowded!
Tip: Keep an eye out so you don't miss the heroes, they usually appear every 3 years: Superman, Batman, Robin, Wonder Woman, Supergirl, Green Lantern and Flash
Restaurants Daily Planet, Gotham City Grill, The Penguin Ice Cream
Cartoon Village
This is the best area for those with small children. Practically all the rides are geared towards them. There's even a rollercoaster where the little ones can have fun and get their first chill.
Emmanuel loved the frajola bus, where we rode around, climbed up and saw the whole park from above. The boy is really adventurous and couldn't stop talking about how much he loves heights.
The famous spinning cups weren't left out either and we spun and laughed a lot.
Ahhhh, this is the area where Perninha's house or Patolino's dressing room is! If you want to see Tweety, you can too.
Check out the program and be sure to visit the characters and ask for an autograph. But don't go thinking that only Looney Tunes will be there, there's also Scooby-Doo and many other cartoons in this area
Restaurants: TNT Coffee, Cartoon Coffee, Helados Vaca Y Pollo, Porky Pig Diner, Ristorante Piolini.
Old West
There are 78,000 square meters of fictitious villages, bars, houses and stores. There's even a dentist's office in the Old West!
As everything in this area is reminiscent of ancient times, the roller coaster couldn't be any different. A huge wooden roller coaster that gives you a chill just looking at it. What's more, it's the largest wooden roller coaster in Europe with over 100,000 screws!
It was also in this area that we went on one of the coolest rides, even the little one went with us on the Rio Bravo. Hold your heart and prepare for a surprise fall!
I wanted to go to the Wild Falls too, but unfortunately there wasn't time.
Tip: Prepare extra clothes, as you will be going out wet.
Restaurants: Old West Fresh Market, La Cantna de Los Bandidos, El Rancho, Old West Ice Cream, El Coyote Solitario.
Choose the best time
Prefer to go in warmer weather, there are lots of water rides, even in the Warner Madrid Park, and in the cold there's no chance of getting wet.
We were lucky and the day we went it was sunny and hot, while the next day it was freezing cold. If we'd swapped days, the water rides would have literally gone down the drain lol.
Another trick is to go during the week. At weekends it gets really crowded and the queues get long.
Uhhhhhh, it's Halloween!
The decoration is eye-catching as soon as you arrive and the pumpkins are part of the entrance decoration.
The streets of Parque Warner Madrid are transformed into horror scenes reminiscent of horror movies such as Jason, Freddy, The Exorcist and even The Mortal Games.
Don't be alarmed if one of them crosses your path at some point! The scare is guaranteed, especially for those who go to the Old West at dusk...
The world of the Old West is transformed, lights, smoke and monsters are out to scare the bejeezus out of us! A sign is posted warning people not to take baby carriages. On this occasion, I left the little one with his father, playing in the Cartoon Village, and I was scared out of my wits.
Shows
The shows are spread throughout the park, and this season kicks off with new shows to enjoy as a family. If you have a superhero spirit, you can't miss Gotham City to help Batman stop the Joker, but if you prefer more action behind the wheel, your show is the Police Academy. And for Wild West outlaws, you'll feel like you're on their turf at the Can-Can Show, where there's no shortage of humor and dancing.
If you're interested in live songs, the musical Rock of Ages will transport you to Broadway.
To end the day, don't miss the parade of characters and, at nightfall, the fireworks over the lake.
Our experience at Parque Warner Madrid
After we moved to Portugal, our horizons broadened and we discovered so many great things here. I hadn't thought of visiting Madrid and it's so close to Portugal, just six hours by car on a safe, well-signposted road.
The weekend after the 12th, our well-known children's day (celebrated here in Portugal on June 1st) would become an epic adventure! We rushed to Parque Warner Madrid!
We wanted to give the little one a nice experience instead of toys. It worked!
Go for it!
So we woke up early and set off, without much planning, just throwing ourselves into it. We didn't want to waste a second.
We saw the sunrise on the road and continued our journey to Parque Warner Madrid, which I found very tiring. If you have the chance, go to Madrid first and rest, leaving the park for the second day.
Even from Madrid, Parque Warner Madrid is a bit far away, about 40 minutes, and anyone who goes to parks knows what a marathon it is and how important it is to be well rested to enjoy the rides.
Special date
Well, we finally arrived and as it was October, we saw everything very well decorated for Halloween, incredible!!! This was another reason why we decided to visit the park, even though it was 6 hours away.
As it's a special time of year, Parque Warner Madrid is open until midnight and many rides run until 11:30pm, which allowed us to enjoy the park a lot, even though we arrived at 1pm.
I particularly love the parks when they're decorated for the holidays, I already want to go back for Christmas, uhulll!
Seriously, as much as we already know the parks, they become totally different and magical. If Hallowen was wonderful, imagine the magic of Christmas! Will we have to face another 6-hour drive?
How to get there
Public transportation
Metro + bus
Take the metro to Villa Verde Bajo Cruce station and then take bus 412 San Martin de La Viega to Parque Warner Madrid.
Train
From anywhere in Madrid, take the train to the Ponto stop (Line C-3) and then take bus 413 from La Veloz to Parque Warner Madrid.
By car
We drove from Portugal to Madrid and the road was super smooth. Follow the signs, take the A-4 to exit 22 and follow the signs.
Unforeseen
I don't think the problem was the 6-hour drive, but that we decided everything at short notice and there wasn't a single hotel available.
Even knowing this, we set off and tcharãm, right there. We couldn't find ANY place to sleep.
We were exhausted from the 6-hour drive back and I also wanted to see Madrid, so we found a safe place, stopped the car and slept there.
Our adventurous spirit was renewed and the next day we went to a nearby shopping center, changed, brushed our teeth and continued our journey.
Was it worth it? Every second! After all, man is made up of memories and stories, only those who get out of bed have fun.
And if there's one thing I want my son to learn from me, it's this:
Go for it, the important thing in life is to live it and be happy.
