Fighting Boredom.
We're always told to arrive well in advance of our flight and sometimes we have a long wait between flights, so we stare at the ceiling and think about how bored we are. We don't always know what to do at the airport while we're waiting for our flight and over the years I've come up with a few alternatives to make the time pass a little more quickly, now with a baby these tricks have become even better, and I'm going to share them with you.
[small_header]Snacks.[/small_header]Choose a place to have a snack, it's always good to pass the time eating something tasty, but be aware of the prices, as airports are usually very expensive! I always opt for franchises with fixed prices and my cappuccino from Kopenhagem is a must, but don't forget to have something in your bag that your little one will like, there's a risk you won't find anything for them at the airport.
With these devices we have the world in our hands, videos, apps, chats with friends, Facebook, Instagram and everything we're entitled to. Airports have understood this so well that every place has sockets to make our lives easier, but there are two apps that have been even more successful on my trips:
Bancah!
An app that works like a virtual newsstand and now has free access at airports! There are magazines for all tastes, the most famous ones you can find there, even magazines with travel guides. There's no better way, apart from reading various tips on the blog about the destination you're going to, you can find something else you like in the magazines.
There are also children's magazines, which helps a lot when the little ones are bored. They can read or look at the pictures of the cartoons they like best, much better than carrying several magazines in their hands.
PlayKids
Of course, it depends on the age of your little one, but mine is still very distracted by this app, listening to the Little Chickadee is a tranquillity from time to time, but there are several others such as My Big Friend, Bob Zoom, The Luna Show and a multitude of cartoons that he enjoys a lot, the best thing is that you don't need to be online to watch, you just need to have loaded it beforehand and the relief of the lack of the holy internet, that's it! Well, my son is over the musical cartoons, but no problem, there are also things for grown-ups like Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi, Dexter's Laboratory, Super Power Girls and so on.
There are times when even the internet doesn't help, the child really wants to get their imagination flowing, so their favorite toy and a piece of paper with a pen/crayon have to be the traveling mother's best friend, you can't imagine how simple things like these can help us to have peace of mind, that snack we want to make but can't because we have to hold the beast, becomes more accessible, just put them sitting next to us drawing or playing and everything is beautiful!
[small_header]Walk around and get to know the place.[/small_header]None of this worked, the flight really is taking longer than usual, so let's spend some energy! Walking around and searching every bit of the departure lounge, seeing what's in the stores, visiting the toilets, showing the planes to the little ones, counting seats, anything goes to distract them.
I've been through 3-hour delays with my little one and these strategies have helped a lot, both the boredom of the mother and the impatience of my #bbpelomundo lol, but when the father is with us it's much easier, so we can rest a bit while the other does the mission with the little one, hehehe.
What strategies do you use?
