Hilton Barra, an excellent hotel for everyone.
I was dying to visit a Hilton hotel, everyone speaks so highly of their 5-star hotels that my curiosity only grew and I wanted to enjoy every second of the experience.
So we traveled in our own city and chose the Hilton as our accommodation option in Barra da Tijuca.
Wow! Super anxious, we packed our bags and set off, crossing the city to enjoy a different side of Rio.
Did you know that Barra da Tijuca is home to the Pantanal Carioca? There are beautiful landscapes along the way in a very busy Rio that deserves to be highlighted.
Surprises and more surprises at our accommodation in Barra
As soon as we arrived, we saw a huge sign saying "#EU AMO BARRA" and a beautiful mirrored building in the background.
All the grandeur of the Hilton and the certainty that I had made the right choice regarding our stay in Barra.
When we walked through the door, the charms didn't end, with spacious, beautifully decorated rooms and very friendly staff.
We were warmly welcomed, with broad smiles and friendliness. When everything starts well and you're well liked, it's even better, isn't it?
Bedroom
As soon as we arrived, we were given a choice of two rooms, one with two double beds or the other with a KING bed plus a crib.
We took the second option and were surprised by the size of the room.
I loved the diversity, very well prepared for both business travelers and family travelers.
The spacious closets come with digital safes, ironing boards and irons.
There's also a work desk in the room, with everything you can imagine, from highlighter pens, plug adapters, mini staplers and post-it notes.
Anyone who follows us knows how much I like rooms with tables to organize our blog material, so needless to say I loved this room!
For the little one, a portable crib from Burigotto came, very comfortable and well laid out. Emmanuel slept well all night in the crib on our side of the bed.
If you're traveling with older children, there are options for shared rooms, which give parents more privacy.
Pampering
Another thing I love about rooms is the coffee machine. I'm hooked!
Being able to enjoy a lazy afternoon with the little one, drinking my coffee while Dad went to the pool, was super nice!
We had some time to ourselves, with lots of jumping on the bed and drawing.
The Nespresso coffee machine comes with two-capsule blends of coffee, tea or even powdered milk.
I think it's lovely to be able to have a coffee in your room at any time.
And the surprises were endless!
While we were in our lazy moment with jokes, we were surprised in the most carioca way.
UEBAAA!!! Biscoito o Globo and Mate Leão, with a welcome card! Like a good carioca, the little one ran for the mate and devoured the cookie.
Bathroom
It's large, white and great for bathing the little one, as it has plenty of space.
Women also benefit from a well-lit mirror and a mirror specifically for make-up.
I thought it was great that as well as a hairdryer, there was a scale to keep track of our extra kilos, lol.
The amenities kit is from L'Occitane, with a very pleasant scent and a very moisturizing coating for the skin.
Rooftop of the Hilton Barra
I thought this was one of the biggest differences between the hotel we stayed at in Barra.
The rooftop of the Hilton Barra is one of the hotel's main attractions, whether it's the pool, the sunset, the view or even the on-site bar.
Most of our hotel experience was in this location.
Swimming pool
The infinity pool is an invitation everyone who stays or visits the hotel can't refuse!
From the 9th floor you can see a beautiful view of Barra da Tijuca.
While I was enjoying the heated Jacuzzi with hydromassage with Emmanuel, Igor was going for a swim in the huge pool that is attached to the Jacuzzi.
Of course I couldn't resist and had my moments of swimming, after all I'm crazy about water and the blue color of the Hilton's pool is wonderful!
The guardian was very cordial to us and offered us towels and noodles to make the most of the pool.
Sunset and pool bar
The sunset from the rooftop of the Hilton is too beautiful! The sky takes on an absurdly reddish color.
Spending a few minutes there enjoying a good drink is super enjoyable.
Academia
The gym is also on the 9th floor. I didn't exercise, I just visited the space and noticed the good equipment.
It's great that you don't have to leave your exercise routine while staying at the Hilton Barra.
Another differential is having a Physical Education professional on hand to help you perform the exercises.
Breakfast
For me, this is the happiest time of all!
I'm really looking forward to seeing what treats are in store.
Coffee at the Hilton Barra is served on the first floor in the Abelardo restaurant, which also functions as a bar and restaurant at other times.
Very well decorated, with fine furniture and a pleasant atmosphere.
In a huge station, there are cold cuts, breads, cakes, fruit and everything else.
As soon as we sat down at the table, the first thing we were offered was coffee and then we were asked if we wanted anything else. I immediately ordered the little one's scrambled eggs and the famous home-made French toast, which I had heard was very good.
Our table also had cheese breads and other goodies, so delicious!
Another nice thing is that the café is open to the public, so if you're not staying at the Hilton Barra, just pay a fee and enjoy everything that's on offer.
We didn't try Abelardo's lunch or dinner meals.
More services at our accommodation in Barra da Tijuca
Transfers with vans.
The hotel provides vans for guests who want a transfer to the beach at weekends. Shuttles to and from the subway and Barra Shopping or Village Mall are also available at set times.
Beach Concierge
The hotel also offers the Beach Concierge, with towels, umbrellas and chairs, with all the usual Hilton cordiality.
Kids area
During the summer, the Hilton Barra offers a kids' area for families during the school vacation season. Unfortunately, we didn't get to know it, as we went at a different time, but they prepare a whole space for the little ones to play, with monitors on hand.
Pets welcome
Another service that blew me away was Pet Friendly!
You can take up to two dogs weighing up to 34 kg each, WOW! There are two large dogs and they give you all the support you need.
Bed, food and water bowls. Please note that pets are not allowed in the food or pool areas.
There is an extra charge for this service.
Internet room
As this is a very popular business hotel, I thought this part was essential.
They have a whole room with computers and printers for you to use at your leisure.
What we thought of our accommodation in Barra da Tijuca.
I was happy to be able to feel how pleasant and well received we are in the Hilton network.
The hotel is of an incredible standard and everything inspires luxury.
I thought it was wonderful value for money, as the rates are amazing.
It's well worth it, if only to spend a weekend in a wonderful setting.
The surroundings
Barra da Tijuca is a well-structured neighborhood in Rio de Janeiro, with LOTS of entertainment and dining options.
Visiting Rio and enjoying this side of the city is a delight.
Barra is home to the city's longest beach, so if you want to read more click here.
Metropolitano Shopping
I loved having a shopping center right in front of the hotel.
We went to the Metropolitano to have a few meals and buy some water along with some sweets.
We also went to the mall to play with the little one.
Olympic Park
Very close to the hotel, we find the Olympic Park, about 5 minutes from the Hilton Barra.
Some of the city's events take place in the Olympic Park.
More information about the Hilton Network
The Hilton Barra was the first Hilton Hotels chain hotel to open in Rio de Janeiro! There are a total of 298 rooms on an impressive 14,000 m².
It is perfect for business and events, with 10 meeting rooms and 2 ballrooms with a capacity of up to 500 people, as well as easy access to corporate offices, convention centers and shopping malls.
It is also interesting for families looking for a different perspective on the city. As well as being excellent value for money, it is also 15 minutes from the best beaches in Barra da Tijuca, shopping malls and restaurants.
Hilton Honors
I don't even need to mention other reasons and benefits of such a renowned chain, do I? In total there are more than 570 hotels spread over 6 continents.
The Hilton is part of the award-winning Hilton Honors program, where guests who book their stay there receive exclusive discounts.
In addition to immediate benefits such as free Wi-Fi, online room selection, late check-out and double points.
How to get there
Car
We went by car and parked for free in the parking lot right in front of the hotel, but if you still want valet parking, you'll find it right outside the hotel.
There will be an extra charge for the service.
Metro + BRT
Barra da Tijuca has improved a lot with the recently opened BRT and subway services.
The metro integrated with the BRT station gives us much more freedom to move around the area and brings us very close to the hotel.
However, I don't recommend traveling with suitcases at certain times, as both the metro and the BRT are very crowded at certain times.
UBER
Even though I was driving, I simulated the route with the app.
Leaving from the South Zone, the journey costs an average of R$ 50.00 (fifty reais) and takes between 40 minutes and an hour.
I think it's great value for money and, apart from the freedom of the car, the best option for getting to the hotel.
From the airports to the Hilton Barra
The city's two airports are almost the same distance from the hotel
Galeão Airport
UBER
If the value is not dynamic, the journey will cost an average of R$ 60.00 (sixty reais) by UBER X and the journey will take between 40 and 60 minutes.
BRT
But if you want to go by public transport, just take the BRT from the airport itself and head to the Hilton.
This way it will take a little longer, on average an hour and a half.
Santos Dumont Airport
UBER
The UBER simulation turned out to be a little cheaper for those leaving from Santos Dumont, costing R$ 53.00 (fifty-three reais).
The journey also takes an average of 40 to 60 minutes.
Tram + Metro + BRT
To get to Santos Dumont airport by public transport, you will need to take three types of transportation.
The VLT passes right outside the airport, which drops you off at the metro and then the BRT.
As well as being tiring and time-consuming, I don't think it's worth changing so many suitcases.
Cris pelo Mundo stayed with the support of the Hilton Barra Rio, but this post is based on my impressions.
