Altos de Santa Teresa - Rio de Janeiro Accommodation Tip

A paradise in the middle of nature.

Santa Teresa is a well-known bohemian neighborhood in Rio de Janeiro. Tourists love its bucolic atmosphere and immersion in nature, and the neighborhood has some of the most beautiful views in the city, with the Guanabara Bay in the background, or even Christ above blessing us.
It is exactly in the middle of all these wonders that Altos de Santa Teresa is located, a guest house that really makes you feel at home.

We arrived and liked the idea of having free parking. Anyone who walks around Santa Teresa knows that this is a tricky issue, with its narrow, steep streets. We were accompanied by Antonela, a friendly Argentinian with the soul of a Brazilian, more in love with Rio than many Cariocas!

She introduced us to every corner of the house and gave us a wonderful welcome drink, I had the lemon caipirinha and Igor had the orange juice, then she took us to our room, we stayed in the Topazio suite, it is huge, with a very spacious balcony and a completely cozy room, I loved the decoration, always with reference to places that the owners have visited on their travels, I am suspicious, after all decoration that reminds me of travel is my thing!

The suite has a very spacious closet, ideal for brides-to-be. In fact, Antonela told us that the suite is very popular for Bridal Day, precisely because it is spacious and has a balcony that would make a luxury hotel envious. On Saturdays it's almost impossible to get a seat there, so plan ahead and book in advance.

Igor and I made good use of the room, which has a number of treats such as a TV with Sky channels, split-system air conditioning and a minibar. We took some treats with us for the evening. This is an important tip because there is no restaurant in the hotel, only nearby restaurants that deliver, so our choice of treats went down a treat and it was super romantic.

I also loved the fact that the bedroom had two sinks, so there was no fighting when it came to brushing my teeth, hihihi.
Now, there's one place that catches the eye in front of the room, which we really enjoyed in the moonlight: the wonderful Jacuzzi in the common area, which is heated and has a breathtaking view of the Botafogo cove and the Sugar Loaf.

Warm water on a cold night, under the moonlight, more relaxing and romantic impossible, in fact, we left our little one with his grandmother, after work and went to enjoy a mini honeymoon, superrr I recommend it to dads on duty who want a spicier night! Take a day in your own city, leave the little one with grandma, uncles, godparents or whoever helps and go enjoy a romantic evening, it's very productive for the couple, and there at Altos is perfect for that, the place is linnnddooo! That hydro is everything!

We lost ourselves in time there, enjoyed the view, talked and flirted for hours, reminisced about our first dates, it was a delight!
The next day we woke up and went straight to breakfast, but first we were surprised by little friends who were on the deck outside, I couldn't help myself and went to talk to the friendly marmosets, how cute, one taking care of the other, petting, and some more curious who came closer, the view is also breathtaking with the bay in the background or Christ very close!

This interaction with nature was very nice, but hunger struck and we enjoyed a beautiful table, with juice, yogurt, cake, cold cuts, tea and everything you could wish for. The owners were at the table and they accompanied us with a delicious conversation about travel, we loved the topic and the time flew by like we didn't even see it!

It was good that in the meantime the sun opened up and we went back to the Jacuzzi, now with an extra privilege, I was in front of a perfect picture of God, what a wonderful view, in the morning it was even more beautiful, how can it be? Stop the clock, I don't want to leave! Igor and I got lost in time again!  
The Altos de Santa Teresa also has a beautiful swimming pool, ideal for those who want to swim and start the day with a good workout, but the Jacuzzi wins everyone over with its breathtaking view! That's why we didn't dare leave.

I thought it was super cool that the Altos de Santa Teresa has several common areas, such as a spacious TV room, a library and a deck with several tables and sunshades.
In addition to the two master suites, you'll also find six more standard rooms. The 1904 mansion is made entirely of weatherboard, beautifully blending the traditional with the modern.

Another highlight of Altos de Santa Teresa is that it's close to the Dona Marta viewpoint, one of my favorite tourist spots in Rio de Janeiro, so if you're a tourist, it's a great opportunity to visit it.
