Munich

Munich Holidays 2012 - Getting to know the city.

Finally, I was able to go out and see something! After so much confusion I couldn't believe it hehehe!
I got on the second floor of the tourist bus and went on my way, happy and content! What was waiting for me there? I had already noticed a lot of greenery around the city and a very pleasant climate. I didn't know any of the local legends or sights... I just went to be really surprised! And surprise became a constant on this trip!
First stop was Marienplatz ! Too bad it was after 12 o'clock and I missed the puppet theater that takes place in the Neues Rathaus (Town Hall), a neo-Gothic building from the late 19th century, very different from other buildings I've seen, but very beautiful! This theater takes place every 11 or 12 hours! And in the summer there's another performance at 5pm! Very nice =) but I left it for the next time I visited, unfortunately this time I was very busy! So I just took a picture in front of the place 😉

I don't know if you noticed, but on the side of the town hall, there's a part with a cloth, because it was under renovation, it's a church, and on the bus I heard a story about a rather macabre urban legend!

The legend goes that when the church was built and about to be inaugurated, it was visited by the Devil! And they say it's the church that the devil stepped on... it's scary to think about, isn't it?
Well, the story goes that when the devil visited the church, he noticed that it had no windows, so he started laughing and mocking, saying that the church would never work, where have you ever seen a place with no windows, and he burst out laughing! But when he turned to leave, he looked from another angle and realized that he had made a fool of himself! The windows were there! The angle he hadn't seen! Then, with the greatest rage in the world, he stomped on the ground (and to this day he has the "devil's stomp") and picked up all the winds he could and threw them around the church, which make noises between the towers to this day! It's quite windy and noisy between the church towers, really!
It's a local urban legend, but it's a bit scary, hehehe have you ever thought? Finding the devil's footsteps? Yikes! But the building is very beautiful, it's two towers with green finishes, and it's not scary at all 😉

That's the famous church, hehehe!

After that I ran to the hot dog stands! I was so hungry! É Marienplatz has been the center of Munich for a long time! And since the Middle Ages! There were already merchants and tournaments there, imagine that time! I wanted to see it so much, but it was only in my imagination. I swapped cars and people running around for horses and things from that time, hihihi.

Well, at least merchants still exist, and some buildings like the Town Hall help you go back in time a little with your imagination lol.

The hot dog with the typical German sausage was perfect, and the mustard? Picannnteeeee! It was delicious and it worked, it satisfied my hunger! I was exhausted, but I wanted to see everything I could! The hours passed as if they were running away from me, and so I had to run even more, would I be able to see everything, or at least the most important ones, in just one day? Hopefully! There was no lack of desire! And I'd leave sleep for later. I got back on the bus and headed for my next destination.
