Where to stay in Lisbon - Perfect location in the heart of the city

CHRISTMAS IN PORTUGAL WHERE TO STAY IN LISBON AT CHRISTMAS

We made the most of our weekend

Lisbon is beautiful, huge and full of options for all tastes. To have a great experience, it was extremely important to know where to stay in Lisbon.

This way, we were able to enjoy every minute in the city and such a short trip brought us many delicious experiences.

WHERE TO STAY IN LISBON

We went to Lisbon for the launch of Mundo Bita here in Portugal. It was so nice to hear and remember the songs that brightened up Emmanuel's early years.

It was also a lot of fun to see local expressions inserted into the music here, the little farm became a little farm and cool became cool!

We went back in time and nostalgia overtook me, heavens, and then I noticed...

I've been living in Portugal for 9 months! Time passes so quickly, I can't believe I haven't visited the Portuguese capital yet. Ahhh, Lisbon, your Lisbon life is so similar to the atmosphere in Rio that I even missed my city a little.

It's impossible not to know Lisbon

Lisbon is currently among the most visited European capitals in the world. Portugal is on the crest of the wave, isn't it?

It's a simply incredible city with lots and lots to do. Lisbon is a very large city compared to other Portuguese cities and has attractions for the whole month, so choosing where to stay in Lisbon is essential to make the most of your stay in this bustling and lively city.

Of course, each traveler's profile will vary, so the neighborhood you choose will also be influenced by your pocket. Av. Liberdade concentrates the best hotels in the city, but I think that taking into account the proximity and convenience of being there, it can be well worth it. I loved our choice of where to stay in Lisbon.

We chose Hotel Lisboa Plaza on Avenida da Liberdade, right in the historic center, the best!

Avenida de Liberdade is not exactly a neighborhood, but it is undoubtedly among the top choices for where to stay in Lisbon.

Everything nearby

We did practically everything on foot, which gave us unparalleled freedom and, best of all, it also offers parking for guests (there is an extra charge). All this turns out to be a hand in the wheel, since parking in the city, especially in that region, isn't that easy.

However, if you're not motorized, there's no problem. There are metro stations on Av. Liberdade and walking is super pleasant. Streetcars and cabs also take you everywhere and are not that expensive. In addition, the city has a good range of APPs, including those for renting scooters, scooters and even shared electric cars.

Other great neighborhoods to stay in Lisbon are: Chiado, Alfama, Bairro Alto and Baixa/Rossio

Hotel Plaza Lisboa is part of the Heritage and all the hotels are incredibly tasteful with locations as good as Av. da Liberdade.

They are: The Green Windows, Heritage Avenida Liberdade Hotel, Hotel Britânia, Castle Manor and of course our Hotel Lisboa Plaza.

Location

The hotel is on Avenida da Liberdade, which is very chic, with lots of luxury stores and good restaurants.
I felt like I was on the Portuguese Champs Eysesses. It's also a privileged location in the heart of Lisbon.

And you have no idea how you've managed to make Lisbon even more beautiful with the gorgeous Christmas decorations!
In addition to all the positive points, the Hotel Lisboa Plaza has everything to do with us. I loved our choice of where to stay in Lisbon.

Hotel Lisboa Plaza

The hotel was opened in the mid-1950s and is still owned by the same family. There are a total of 94 rooms and 12 suites, with several beautiful common areas: lounges, a terrace and a restaurant.

Speaking of traveling as a family, I really liked the structure for those traveling with children, as they offer tea, water, flavored water and coffee 24 hours a day for guests in the TV lounge.
This was essential for us, I confess that I forget to drink water when I travel and every time I passed by, I would treat myself to a glass of refreshing flavored water.

Although I always carry the little one's bottle in my bag, with all the news from my travels, giving him water when I'm traveling is also a challenge! Emmanuel loved filling the bottle with flavored water and hydrating himself became something new and a lot more fun.

The hotel is simply BEAUTIFUL, its decorated rooms make you want to spend the whole day there.
I felt like I was in a little palace, complete with princess decorations. Emmanuel, on the other hand, went crazy over the Christmas decorations, enchanted by the tree and all its details.

Our suite

If the entrance hall had already enchanted me, imagine when I entered our suite!
First I came across a huge living room with a sofa, desk, table and port wine.

Then came our room, with a huge, soft bed, nice blankets and a table just the way I like it.

I love rooms with tables for our computers and cameras, lol.

Emmanuel took advantage of this and was so anxious to enjoy the room that sleep didn't want to come for nothing.

There was jumping on the bed, cuddling with dad, smiles with mom and another super nice family day.

Bathroom

This was one of the most beautiful bathrooms we've ever seen, lol seriously, with a delicious bathtub to relax in after all the walking.

Spacious and beautiful, all in marble! Needless to say, another challenge was getting Emmanuel out of the bath, right?

Breakfast

Breakfast is the time I look forward to the most. Who doesn't love a delicious breakfast when traveling?!

I'm passionate about getting my day off to a good start, and I'll tell you, breakfast surprised me!

Here in Portugal we eat very well, but this café went overboard. On the snack table, there were sandwiches, stuffed chicken, lots of cold cuts, breads and more breads Ahhh all delicious.

Of course, Emmanuel kept his scrambled eggs and this time chose an apple juice to go with them.

I, on the other hand, went to the usual café, which, by the way, was Nespresso, and I ended up at the sweets table. A huge cascade of chocolate with lots and lots of traditional Portuguese sweets.

It was hard to leave, you see. Another great thing is that the café runs until midday. So you don't have to get up early and you can make the most of your night's sleep.

Common areas

I could describe all the areas, but I guess sometimes pictures are worth more than words, right?

How we get around

The location is perfect and we practically didn't need to use transportation to get where we wanted to go.

We took the bus from Praça do Comércio to LX Factory and the streetcar from Belém to Praça do Comércio.

We also took a cab from Praça do Comércio to the hotel when we got back late at night and, by the way, I preferred this option to the streetcar or metro. With a child, I'd say it's the best and quickest option for short journeys.

The cab cost us 5 euros, while the streetcar cost 2.90 euros each. However, it seems that this amount is lower if you buy it in advance by card.

Driving around Lisbon is not a good option, so in addition to all this, the Hotel Plaza Lisboa also has a trump card: parking.

Guests can leave their car parked during their stay and enjoy the city in the best way possible, without a car.

Getaways near the hotel

Of course, the best option for where to stay in Lisbon varies from tourist to tourist, but for us the Hotel Lisboa Plaza fit the bill!

WHERE TO STAY IN LISBON AT CHRISTMAS

In the evening we strolled along Avenida Liberdade to Wondeland, enjoying the Christmas lights and the colorful stalls. We loved the Ferris wheel, the chorizo bread and much, much more.

If you ask if we enjoyed our stay, I can tell you that we made the most of every SECOND.

On the way back we went a little further and went to Praça dos Restauradores where there is a gigantic Christmas ball.

Christmas carols were being sung and the atmosphere was so pleasant, it was past midnight and I wanted to keep walking around the city.

We went back to the hotel and the next day we walked around more, to São Jorge Castle, Rossio, Praça do Comércio and Augusta. We walked around and didn't even feel how delicious and charming Lisbon is.

If you prefer, there are a few metro stations along Avenida da Liberdade, so there's plenty of transportation.

What we think about our choice of places to stay in Lisbon

Couldn't have been better, perfect location! Everything close by, with lots and lots of restaurants and stores.

The Hotel Lisboa Plaza is more than cozy, with decoration that's the right balance between classic and modern.

We were extremely well received, with broad smiles and a lot of dedication to good service.

WHERE TO STAY IN LISBON

The hotel has agreements with attractions in the city and offers free entry to some of Lisbon's museums, such as the Museum of Contemporary Art.

As soon as we arrived, we were greeted with maps and instructions about the city, which is undoubtedly a big plus.

It made us feel much more welcome, it's nice when that happens, isn't it? I loved our choice of where to stay in Lisbon!

I already want to go back to the city and see more and more. I missed so much, I want to go to the Oceanarium, enter the monastery and so many other things.

Our trip to Lisbon was worth it to eat the famous Pastel de Belém and see that it really has nothing to do with the pasteis de nata (custard tarts) we eat around here.

Cris pelo Mundo was supported in its accommodation in Lisbon, but this post is faithful to my impressions.
